El Nido February 2012,
It is a long way to go but it is worth it.
El Nido is at 8 hours by boat from Coron or 8 hours by car from Puerto Princesa. It is a village in the north of Palawan.
I was diving in Coron so I arrived by boat.
I was in touch with Jose Calzadilla (in that time he was working for a local dive centre, now He opened with Paco a friend of mine a new dive centre called “Deep blue”.) He booked for me the accommodation and three days of diving.
The village was nice, very calm with a sandy beach (big enough to enjoy the sun and the sea).
My accommodation was perfect (a room in a big house) at 5 min. walking from the dive centre
The first day locations were: paguglaban y south miniloc
Good visibility, warm water 27 degrees.
We met blue fin trevally, puffer fish, scorpion fish, lion fish, robust ghost pipe fish, fusiliers, blue moray ribbon ell, yellow snappers, moray ell, tuna, Spanish mackerel.
After the first day the feeling was positive, I spent a good time in the boat, I knew people and diving was great, I was looking forward for the next days.
The second day: dilumacad and popol kan
The visibility was ok and the water likes the first day 27 degrees.
Very nice dive, we pass by Colemans shrimps, we crossed a very good looking eagle ray and blue spotted sting ray.
The third day “the best” we want to west entalula y nat nat. it was so good
I dived with Paco a Valencian guy; he was my divemaster we enjoyed a lot.
We didn´t go deep 21 y 17 mt. and the temperature of the sea was good 27 degrees.
The visibility was so so but we saw ornate ghost pipe fish, juvenile parrot fish, scorpion fish, nudibranch, moray ell, jak fish, juvenile rock mover wrasse “very very nice” and a lovely thorny sea horse.
I have good memories about these three days. I really spent a lovely time in El Nido.
I met Paco a positive person, we became friends, I am very happy he opened his own dive centre “deep blue” he deserves it, good luck my friend.
I hope to meet him again and diving together
