Coron and Apo Reef January 2012 y 2014

From Hong Kong I flew a flight to Busuanga (Palawan, Philippines) via Manila with Cebu Pacific (Philippines airlines makes the same rute too).

from Busuanga by car after 30/45 minutes driving (100-150 pesos taxi van 8 people) I arrived in Coron.

I booked a room in a very nice place seadiveresort the room was very confortable and big,  but a did not diving with with them.

I was in contact with divecal and I started diving with them the day after.

on the boat we were five people: two divers (Mira a Norway girl and me) our very expert and funny guide (he knew every single wreck) and the crew.

I dived with him one week and I liked a lot, normally wreck diving in Coron is deep 30m. you need the advance level.

When you get inside the ship you have to pay attention at the bottom, if you touch it so much sand is starting to move and the only thing you can do is going out because the vivibility is very bad and you can get lost, you need a good buoyancy.

Inside the wreck I felt something very massive around me it is like to break into the past, all the boats are  part of a Japanese convoy of the second world sinked by Americans.

Kogyo maru (construction supply ship) length 130mt. max depth 36m   -   teru kaze (gun boat) length 30 mt. max depth 20m. olimpia (cargo ship) length 122mt. max depth 30m.     -          akitsushima (seaplane tender) length 118mt. max depth 36m.   irako (refrigeration supply ship) length 147mt. max depth 43m.  -   okikawa maru (oil tanker) length 160mt. max depth 26m.

Of course every dive site is planty of fishes and you can see jack fish, barracuda, parrot fish, cuttle fish, crocodile fish, snappers, groupers, lion fish, and reef fishes like seahorses and pipefish.

At the end of the weeh I had to go, what a shame!!!! I did not have time to go to Apo Reef, the safari was 4 nights 3 days.

                                                                           Two years  later

I got it, in January 2014 I booked the safari to Apo Reef and from Coron after one night of navigation we arrived at destination.

Unfortunately philippines is a high typhoon risk country and we had to go back after one day and I lost again the opportunity to dive there. I made only three dives but very nice. Despite the typhoon did much damage I saw nice corals and nice reef life.

I dived with sharks (white fin), tunas, turtles, green moray, nudi branches, lion fish, box fish, bump head parrot fish, barracuda, sea cucumbers, catfish. It was a good trip but too short.

Anyway I found another way to go to Apo Reef, from Pandan Island (Mindoro).

Walking around the village I saw a Neptune dive center, I got in and I spent time tolking with the owner, the place was very good organize, clean and very good looking. Next time I´d like to dive with him.
